A man named Charles Dodgson. The Micheal Jackson of the late 19th century? A madman? A genius? Everyone knows the Adventures in Wonderland, and maybe even the story through the looking glass, or even the legend of the Jabberwocky set within the latter. But it was the genius of the lesser known Hunting of the Snark that afixed Carroll in my mental catalogue of brilliant creators. The 8 fit poem is engrossing, so disturbing, so inspiring, so thought provoking that you can enjoy it a number of times in a rom, in one sitting. I read it front to back 4 times consequtively I think. The Snark has been done a grave injustice by the few artists who haven chosen to attempt to depict him. The Jabberwocky also seems badly portrayed... (aside from one very unique and quality cartoon)
I increased the comment level to critiques welcome on my 3 Carroll- creature pieces. And there way well be a few more bythe end ef the night. A long term project I'd like to develop, is "The Haunting of the Snark" a re-telling of an eight part plight of 10 B-men against a mythical creature of ambiguous identity.
